| Matt's Journal Feb 16 2004 My sincere apologies for not having written anything sooner. I've been without internet in my apartment ever since I moved in and I'm unable to update my site at work. So, to those of you who have been checking this site daily, hoping for new content, I'm sooo sorry for disappointing you. But I have internet now, so the updates will return. Let's see ... there's a lot to tell ... I am in my new apartment. I moved into the Landmark on the Lake place on Brady and Prospect. Right on the lake, underground parking, lake access (and view!), laundry in the apartment, pool, spa, workout facility, dry cleaning in-house and walking distance to awesome bars, restaurants and stores. I'm loving it. And my roommate, Bryan, is really nice and we're getting along just fine. But he hates his job, so he hasn't been the happiest camper in the world... He didn't get home tonight until 7PM and has to be AT WORK tomorrow by 6:30AM. And he had to work on Sunday for eight hours. He makes good money, but is it worth it? What else ... The Concert For Life at Marquette on Thursday was great! We had a turnout of about 350 people and raised over $2,000 for the American Cancer Society. I'm not sure what the final total is yet, but I will post that when I do (we're allowing donations through the end of this week). You can read the setlist for that show HERE. Thanks to all who were involved! I personally don't feel as if it was my best performance, but I'm my harshest critic. I received wonderful feedback and am very thankful to all those who came up to talk with me or who wrote me an e-mail after the show. And I need to give one more HUGE THANK YOU to Blake Wallace, a good friend of mine who handled all of the publicity and logistics for this show. I was merely a performer. Thank you, Blake. You did a tremendous job and for such a good cause... AND ... There's a HUGE concert this Sunday!! If this is the first time you're hearing/reading about it, then there's something wrong with you. The BIG Concert For Life in Gurnee, IL will take place at 4PM this Sunday afternoon. Music, raffles, food, fun, community, charity ... it's got everything! CLICK HERE for more information on the show and for information on how to get your ticket!!. If you've been there before, then you have to come again. If you're never been, then you need to make sure you come. I assure you, it will be a great experience. Come out and help us remember those who have passed away from cancer and remember those who have survived it. Oh yeah ... I was also at the democratic debate last Sunday. I was the guy who got to show the candidates where to go when walking on stage (I got to make sure they went in the right door), so at one point I was within inches of all of them. My biggest observation: Howard Dean is short. I'll write more about the debate later on. It was a great experience. My role there was minimal, but I was just so happy to be in the same room as these men and be a part of an event involving so many people. Okay. Time for bed. Check out the PICTURES section of the site. I put up some new ones from last Thursday's concert. Kim (my sister) was taking the photos. You can blame her for their poor quality. She was under the impression that she had to hit the button twice to take the picture (thanks for the help anyways, Kim!). AND - Here's the cool thing ... You can download my appearance on FOX6 News last Thursday HERE. It's the one labeled "Concert For Life". God bless. |
