| My roommate informed me today that it had been a while since my last journal entry. So here I am - updating my site while watching the Cubs duke it out with the Dodgers in the 10th inning with my beautiful bride-to-be sleeping in the other room. We went out to dinner tonight with a couple of friends and both ate too much. She's doing the wise thing and just cashing it in for the night, while I've allowed the Cubs to capture my attention once again. I hope this game doesn't go on too long. But I should be happy it's still going at all. The boys in blue were down 1-0 going into the bottom of the 9th, but scratched across a run in their final at-bat and are now in extra innings. Speaking of the Cubs, I'm going back to Wrigley on Sunday. Katie bought me tickets on the same night I proposed to her. She gave them to me that night at dinner -- hours before I asked her to marry me. She keeps saying that I one-upped her that night, giving her a diamond ring. But she has it all wrong. I would take Cubs tickets over a diamond ring any day of the week! Katie and I were at Wrigley already this year. We went earlier this month with my brothers. The four of us sat in the bleachers. It was awesome, except for the fact that we got rained on, the Cubs lost and Mike almost got kicked out before the first pitch. Yeah. Katie and I let Mike have a sip of a beer (like all over-21 adults do to younger kids -- it's just one sip!) and the security cameras must have caught it. The next thing we knew, Mike was being escorted out. I went chasing after him with Katie close behind. In the end, they realized that it was "just" one sip and let us stay. I think more than anything else they were just trying to make an example out of us. I guess they were just doing their job. Katie and I are close to booking a reception place. We have the date and church picked. I'm not going to reveal it yet, though. Because if we can't find a reception site, we'll have to change the date and I don't want to confuse too many people. We also have a DJ lined up and a live band! So the important things are falling into place! : ) I'm trying to plan a couple of shows for the summer. To be honest, the motivation isn't really there. I know we'll be doing one in the Union Grove/Lake Geneva area again -- probably in mid-August. And I know there will be a couple of others ... But for now I'm really enjoying just working and coming home. I think a lot of it has to do with this being the first month of no Bucks games. Once June rolls around (just days away!) I'm sure that will all change. I do have plans to record the song that I wrote for Katie (the one that I played right before I proposed). I'll put that on the site in a few weeks, hopefully. As a means to make a little bit of cash, I may shrewdly post it on iTunes for a $1 download! Haha. We'll see! That may not go over very well. Congratulations are in order for my sisters Kim (Master's in Education & Leadership), Beth (Master's in Accounting) and Amy (Undergrad from Marquette in Social Justice) who all graduated two weekends ago. What a fun weekend that was. Lots of parties/dinners/drinks/family. We all had a great time and I'm so very proud of all of them. And congrats also go out to my future father-in-law who officially opened his new hospital in West Bend. It's a Phase I clinical research facility called Spaulding Clinical. If you're at least 18 years old and looking to pick up some easy extra money and help advance medical research, you should consider volunteering for a study! It's an amazing initiative and appears well on its way to being a huce success. THE CUBS JUST WON!! Soriano with a bloop single off the line in left to score Fontenot! What a win! They can't lose at home!! 22-8 at Wrigley!! Woohoo!!! GO CUBS GO! GO CUBS GO! HEY, CHICAGO, WHAT DO YOU SAY? THE CUBS ARE GONNA WIN TODAY! Anyways - their win means I can go to sleep now. I'll check in again soon. |
