OThe following blurb was written about my show at Bethel Lutheran Church in Gurnee, IL on July 8, 2005.  I'm not sure exactly when it was published, but I stumbled upon it a few weeks after the concert.

I had a blast last weekend. At least one event was
happening each day and of course, as usual, several
things competed for my attention, which lead to
picking and choosing from the array. Scoop the Loop
appeared to be a success. There were tons of people in
downtown Waukegan over the three-day celebration and I
can attest to a wel planned modus operandi, with very
congenial staff to execute it. Late into Saturday
night the streets were still full of good-natured
people enjoying themselves.

Friday night I attended a concert at Bethel Lutheran
Church in Gurnee. The musician, vocalist, and
songwriter was Matt Wessel who, with his group of
multi-talented friends, gave another stellar
performance for the American Cancer Society. Matt is a
local guy, but he is a top-rate performer. He started
writing music the year his father died from cancer
when he was just 16 years old. Since then he has
recorded five CDs, is in the process of making two
more, continues to write a multitude of music, has
graduated from Marquette University, plays for his
present parish in Milwaukee, performs, and is
currently working as a public relations assistant for
the Milwaukee Bucks.

This guy is busy, but what a gift for plucking our
heart strings when Wessel performs. He's been
instrumental in raising thousands and thousands of
dollars for ACS at his annual Concert For Life, which
is affiliated with Warren High's Future Business
Leaders of America, each spring at St. Paul of the
Apostle Church in Gurnee. To find out more about this
amazingly talented man, check out his Web site at:
